Cookie Policy

This page lists what we store on your device, what each thing is for, and how to turn off the parts that are optional.

1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. It lets the site recognise your browser next time. We also use two related browser stores — localStorage and sessionStorage — for things like remembering your chosen language or where you paused a video. This policy covers all three; calling them all "cookies" is simpler.

2. Essential cookies — always on

These are the ones that make the platform work. They cannot be switched off, because without them you cannot log in or pay.

  • Session and authentication — keeps you logged in as you move between pages, and lets you sign out everywhere.
  • Security — protects against cross-site request forgery and detects suspicious sign-in activity.
  • Payment — used by our payment partner during checkout to carry the transaction through safely.
  • Consent record — remembers the cookie choice you made, so we stop asking.

These do not track you across other websites and are not used for advertising.

3. Preference storage — on, but entirely about you

Kept so the platform behaves the way you left it: your language (English or Hindi), light or dark theme, video quality and playback speed, where you paused each lesson, and which filters or tabs you last used. It stays on your device and tells us nothing about you as a person.

4. Analytics cookies — only if you agree

We use PostHog to understand how the platform is actually used: which lessons get abandoned, which buttons are never found, where people hit errors. That is how we decide what to fix.

  • These run only after you opt in through the cookie banner.
  • PostHog sets its own cookies and acts as our service provider.
  • We use it to improve the product, not to advertise to you, and we do not combine it with ad networks.

If you decline, everything on the platform still works. You simply become invisible in our product analytics, which is your right.

5. What we do not use

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No social-media tracking pixels.
  • No cross-site tracking, and no selling of behavioural data.

6. Cookies set by others

Video playback and some embedded content (for example a YouTube preview an instructor has embedded in a lesson) may set cookies from that provider when you play it. We cannot control those; they are governed by that provider's own policy. Embedded content does not load until you interact with it where we can arrange that.

7. Changing your mind

  • Use the cookie settings link in the site footer to change your analytics choice at any time.
  • Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies for this site entirely. Blocking essential cookies will stop you being able to log in — that is a browser limitation, not a penalty from us.
  • Clearing your browser data clears your saved preferences and your consent record, so we will ask again.

8. Questions

If you want to know exactly what is stored under your account, you can request it under section 10 of our Privacy Policy.

Please talk to us first. Almost everything — a payment that did not go through, a course you cannot open, a refund, a certificate, a correction to your data — is sorted out fastest by simply telling us. Write to us through the Contact Us page or at macacademy.admin@gmail.com and a real person will read it. We aim to reply within 2 working days, and we will tell you honestly if something will take longer or if we cannot do what you have asked.

If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can escalate it to our Grievance Officer using the same contact details, and after that to the consumer forum or court nearest to you. Indian law applies to these documents and to your use of the platform. We would much rather fix the problem than argue about it.
