Instructor Terms

These Instructor Terms apply in addition to our Terms of Service when you teach on MAC Academy. They explain how publishing, earnings and payouts work, and what we each owe the other.

1. Becoming an instructor

Instructor accounts are reviewed before you can publish. We may decline or revoke instructor status, including for policy or quality reasons, and we will tell you why. You must be able to enter into a contract, and the details you give us for payouts and tax must be accurate.

2. Your content stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you create. You grant us the licence described in section 3 of our License page: worldwide, non-exclusive and royalty-free, so that we can host, transcode, stream, excerpt for marketing and deliver your courses to enrolled learners.

You confirm that you hold all the rights needed to publish what you upload, including rights to any images, music, footage, datasets or third-party material in it, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. If you are not sure whether you may use something, ask before you publish it.

3. Publishing and approval

Courses are reviewed by an administrator before they go live, and material changes to a published course may be reviewed again. This protects learners and your own reputation. We are not trying to interfere in how you teach, and we will give you specific, actionable feedback rather than a bare rejection.

AI tools on the platform can draft a quiz, a rubric, an announcement or a summary for you, but nothing an AI produces is published without you approving it. Drafts stay drafts until a person saves them.

4. Video delivery

To keep courses affordable, video is transcoded on your own machine with the packaging tool we provide and uploaded as a prepared bundle. You are responsible for the accuracy and licensing of your source material. We will help you if the tool gives you trouble.

5. Earnings, commission and payouts

You earn a share of the net revenue from sales of your courses, shown in your instructor dashboard. The platform may retain a commission, set by MAC Academy and shown in your instructor dashboard, to cover payment processing, hosting, delivery and support. Any change to the commission applies only to sales made after the change.

  • "Net revenue" means what we actually received for your course: the price paid, after taxes collected, payment-gateway charges and any discount or coupon applied.
  • Your dashboard shows each sale, what was deducted and what you earned. If a figure looks wrong, ask us and we will show you the calculation.
  • Payouts are made periodically to the details on file, subject to any minimum threshold, and after any tax deduction or withholding the law requires. Keep your payout and tax details current — a failed payout is almost always an out-of-date detail.
  • We do not hold your earnings back arbitrarily. If we ever need to pause a payout — a suspected fraud or an unresolved infringement claim — we will tell you why and what will release it.

6. Refunds and chargebacks

When a learner receives an eligible refund, or a chargeback succeeds, the matching earnings are reversed from your balance. This is the same way round as the sale, and it is why the refund window matters to you too. You can see every reversal and the order it relates to in your dashboard.

7. What your content must not contain

Your courses must be accurate, lawful and free of hate speech, harassment, sexual content involving minors, instructions for serious harm, malware, and infringing material. Do not promise guaranteed exam ranks, jobs or salaries — we do not allow outcome guarantees anywhere on the platform, in a course page or inside a lesson.

We may unpublish content or remove a course that breaks these standards. For anything other than an urgent safety or legal problem, we will raise it with you first.

8. Learner data you can see

You can see, for your own courses: enrolment and progress, submissions and grades, doubts addressed to you, and the AI tutor chats learners had about your course. That last one is covered in section 7 of our Privacy Policy, and every time you open a learner's chat it is recorded in an audit log with your name and the time.

This access exists so you can teach better. Using it for anything else — contacting learners off-platform for your own marketing, or passing their details to anyone — is a serious breach and ends your instructor status.

9. Ending it

  • You can unpublish your courses at any time. Learners who already bought them keep access to what they paid for.
  • You can close your instructor account; see our Account Deletion Policy, including the parts specific to instructors.
  • We may suspend payouts or remove content in cases of fraud, infringement or serious policy breach, and will tell you what the issue is.

10. Talking to us

Please talk to us first. Almost everything — a payment that did not go through, a course you cannot open, a refund, a certificate, a correction to your data — is sorted out fastest by simply telling us. Write to us through the Contact Us page or at macacademy.admin@gmail.com and a real person will read it. We aim to reply within 2 working days, and we will tell you honestly if something will take longer or if we cannot do what you have asked.

If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can escalate it to our Grievance Officer using the same contact details, and after that to the consumer forum or court nearest to you. Indian law applies to these documents and to your use of the platform. We would much rather fix the problem than argue about it.
