This page sets out the licence you get as a learner, the licence instructors give us, and our use of open-source software.

MAC Academy is an online learning platform run as a sole proprietorship registered in India as a small business (Udyam). Throughout these documents, "MAC Academy", "we", "us" and "our" mean that business, and "you" means the person using the platform.

MAC Academy's software and original content are proprietary. They are not open source. Copying, modifying, decompiling or redistributing the platform, or any part of it, is not permitted.

• When you buy a course, bundle or learning path you receive a licence that is:
• personal — for you, not for a group, a classroom or a company, unless you have bought a plan that says otherwise;
• non-transferable — it cannot be sold, lent, gifted or passed to another person;
• non-exclusive — others buy the same course;
• limited to studying the material on the platform, for the access period shown on the course page;
• revocable for breach — piracy or account sharing ends it, as described in our Terms of Service.

It does not include any right to download for redistribution, re-record, publish, teach from, resell or train an AI model on the material.

By publishing on MAC Academy you keep ownership of your content and grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, transcode, stream, excerpt for marketing and deliver your content to enrolled learners, for as long as it is published.

• You can unpublish at any time. Learners who already bought the course keep access to what they paid for, so the licence continues for them alone.
• We may create thumbnails, previews, captions and transcripts from your material in order to deliver it.
• We do not licence your content to anyone else, and we do not use it to train AI models.

A certificate we issue is yours to show anyone — an employer, a college, your family. You may share it, post it and link to it. You may not alter it, and you may not use our name or logo to claim an endorsement or affiliation we have not given.

The platform is built on open-source software, each component under its own licence (MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD, ISC and others). We comply with those licences, including their attribution requirements. Their licences apply to those components, not to our platform or course content.

If you want the list of components and licences for a particular release, ask us at macacademy.admin@gmail.com and we will provide it.

Some course material is used under an open licence such as Creative Commons that requires attribution. Those credits appear with the material and must be kept if you are permitted to reuse it. Where that is the case, the open licence governs that material and is more permissive than section 2 — read the credit to see what you may do.

Please talk to us first. Almost everything — a payment that did not go through, a course you cannot open, a refund, a certificate, a correction to your data — is sorted out fastest by simply telling us. Write to us through the Contact Us page or at macacademy.admin@gmail.com and a real person will read it. We aim to reply within 2 working days, and we will tell you honestly if something will take longer or if we cannot do what you have asked.

If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can escalate it to our Grievance Officer using the same contact details, and after that to the consumer forum or court nearest to you. Indian law applies to these documents and to your use of the platform. We would much rather fix the problem than argue about it.
